  • Dry-frying is a process of cooking the nut of melinjo fruit in a frying pan using sand (instead of oil). Dry-frying is done to soften the nut so it can be easily shaped. Dry-frying include the following steps:
  • Pour sand into the frying pan then start the fire using firewood and wait until the sand is really hot.
  • If the sand is already hot, add carefully into the pan the melinjo nuts that have been stored for 1 day. Cover all the nuts with sand.
  • Leave the melinjo nuts in the sand for about 3 minutes. If the nuts are hot already and their skin looks dark/blackish, take out the nuts using a filter/wire mesh.
